With the holidays just around the corner, one retailer has announced plans to hire thousands of people for seasonal jobs.

Kohl's officials announced Tuesday the retailer expects to hire more than 40,000 people for jobs in stores, distribution centers, and credit operations.

The company expects to hire an average of 35 seasonal associates per store, which they say is consistent with 2010 hiring levels.

Officials say seasonal associates at Kohl's can work anywhere from a few hours to more than 20 hours per week. Store jobs can include unloading trucks, freight processing, stocking, and cash register duties.

Hiring for the seasonal jobs is already underway, and Kohl's officials say most jobs will be filled by mid-November.
