Fall illnesses: Is it a cold, allergies or the flu?

It's that time of year again. Many people are sniffling, coughing, and feeling sick.

However, is what you have allergies, a cold, or the flu? Sometimes it can be hard to determine between the three.

Health experts say a cold, the flu, and allergies all have similar symptoms.

However, experts say the symptoms of a cold typically come on gradually, over the course of a few days. The symptoms of the flu typically come on suddenly. Experts say allergies can go either way.

Health experts say now is the time to get your flu shot. Flu season runs from October until May.

Experts recommend everyone older than six months old get a flu shot. They particularly urge flu vaccinations for anyone with lowered immunity.
