Terminology: levels of care
• Independent – ability to maintain home & self care
• Assisted Living – Apt. in community housing; review by state; non-medical; ADL assist only
• Personal Care – Apt. or rooms; State LIC.; nurses on staff; ADL assist
• Continuing Care – CCRC; all levels on 1 campus
• Nursing Home – skill care & Rehab
Dementia Care
• Secure Facility - social model or medical model
• Trained staff specific to dementia
• Private Pay, Medicaid, or LTC Ins.

Adult Day Programs
• Daytime Care for seniors – 7:30 A.M. – 5:30 P.M.
• State License – Inspector General
• Medical or Social models
• Private Pay, Medicaid Waiver or LTC Inc.

Adult Day Programs
• Government HUD – based on income; assessment required
• Independent apartments
• No ADL or IADL assistance
• Eligibility – 62 years of age or older
