Many people are still not aware that the Social Security Administration offers extra help to pay for Medicare Prescription Drug plans, also known as Medicare Part D. This extra help can pay for prescription drug costs, monthly premiums, and annual deductibles associated with the Medicare Prescription Drug benefit. The Extra Help benefit is worth an average of about $3,900 per year. Many people qualify for these big savings and don’t even know it. It is estimated that nearly 55,000 Kentuckians qualify for this type of assistance but have not applied to receive it.
