Now, something just really burnt my biscuits during the last race. Apparently, at some point early in the race, the powers that be at Nascar told Brad Keselowski not to race the Chase drivers so hard. What the heck?!? Since when are the other drivers not allowed to race the Chase drivers? Those other drivers have just as much right as the Chase drivers to race for the win. They shouldn't have to tiptoe around certain cars just because they're in the top 12 in points. This is the sort of mess that has started turning even the most longtime racing fans away from the sport. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd like to see the days return when EVERY driver was racing hard for the win, no matter WHO was running beside them. The days when a driver wasn't given a warning because he was racing hard for his piece of the track. Why aren't the Chase drivers given a warning when they race EACH OTHER aggressively? Nascar AND the media need to have a rude awakening in more ways than one.

Another thing that gets my dander up, is that the media apparently doesn't realize that drivers that AREN'T in the Chase DO have fans. I know I've probably ranted on this before, but it still gets on my last nerve everytime a race comes on. So what if my driver's not running good. I still would like to hear what happened to him when he just suddenly shows up on the ticker as being OUT of the race. But NOOOOO, I have to wait and get on the internet Monday and search until I find out what happened to him. There's even certain drivers that don't have to be IN the Chase and they STILL get talked about 1/3 of the broadcast. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against these drivers. Its not their fault the media are fascinated with them. And yeah, if they're running good, up front and consistently, give them some recognition. But don't spend the WHOLE broadcast on them. Guess what Mr. Race Announcer, not everybody is a fan of Johnson, Gordon, or Busch. Michael Waltrip has fans, Kevin Harvick has fans, David Ragan has fans, and those fans would like to see and/or hear about their driver at least every now and then. Keep pushing those drivers and fans to the side and Nascar will be seeing a decline due to something other than the economy. So I guess I should say 'thank you' Mr. Mediaman for causing me to not want to watch a race all the way through anymore.

And that brings me to the end of my ranting. I don't know what got into me. Maybe its the full moon. Maybe its the lack of sleep I've been getting. Maybe its just me wanting to live in the past. Or maybe, its just because I can't find a restaurant who will make me some chocolate gravy and biscuits? Who knows? Maybe I just need to go and dig out some old races I have taped and watch them.

So, until next time, have fun at the races. Next sunday will be at California, race #3 of the Chase for the Cup. I think I would like to see Mark Martin FINALLY win a Cup Championship. He's waited long enough for one and it would be nice to see a longtime veteran win it all.

And that's today's disgruntled view from turn two.....
