And what a great finish to that race! First time in Sprint Cup that the Green/White/Checker was attempted three times in one race. And Harvick timed that pass on Jamie McMurray exactly! I was happy to see the spoiler on the cars again at a superspeedway. Nobody got airborne this time. That's always a good thing, unless you're a pilot.
I was extremely happy seeing Michael Waltrip run up front for part of the race, until he got wrecked. For the life of me, I can't remember who caused that wreck he got caught up in. But I'm glad to see his team run well. Both drivers finished in the top 15.
Jeff Gordon is none too happy with Jimmie Johnson after last Sunday's race. He was quoted on Nascar.com as saying "The 48 is testing my patience, I can tell you that. It takes a lot to make me mad -- and I am p$&%* right now". This after Johnson came down to block Gordon, forcing him down onto the apron, causing him to lose positions. Gordon later was caught up in an accident. Johnson said of the accident that it was his fault and that "I misjudged the closing rate." Johnson would later crash as well. Whether he meant it or not, there seems to be some rivalry growing there. Rick Hendrick would probably step in to mediate before the problem got to big. I say let them have at it. I kind of miss the big rivalries Nascar used to have. Remember Earnhardt Sr. and Rusty Wallace? Now there was a great rivalry. I got to witness the aftermath of those two getting into a 'disagreement' at Bristol once that ended up with a brawl in the pits after the race, and a water bottle getting bounced off 'someone's' head! Ahhhh, the good ol' days......
Speaking of Hendrick Motorsports, Kasey Kahne has signed a multiyear agreement to drive for Rick Hendrick. Rumor has it right now, that he will take over the 5 car Mark Martin is currently in starting in 2012. That's what I've heard anyway. In any case, SOMEBODY will be losing a ride since no owner can have five teams on the track. I'll leave that as is for now......
Well, that's all I got today. This warm weather has given me spring-fever and its hard for me to keep my mind off of anything except vacation days! Til next time, that's the view from the beach....I MEAN turn two!
