Big Wins
Big team performances were also a part of the weekend. Clay County knocked off Scott County in Georgetown (Ranked #5 in Class 6A) 41-26. Middlesboro also got their first win under new coach Randy Frazier by topping Letcher Central (Ranked #8 in Class 5A) 13-9.
Pike's Peak
It was another great Pike County Bowl this weekend with big crowds for both nights. The biggest win in the 4 games has to go to Brad Allen and East Ridge after the Warriors beat Shelby Valley for the first time 31-6. Belfry avoided their first 0-2 start to a season since 1998 by rallying to beat (Cov.) Holy Cross 20-14. Pike Central looked very impressive in their 47-14 victory over Phelps by jumping out to a big lead. The Hawks scored on their first 3 possessions (under the direction of new starting QB Allan Boggs) and got a nearly 100 yard interception return for a TD by Cory Shouse. Pikeville struggled early before beating Boyd County 16-7. The defense looked excellent and QB Randy Maynard ( a converted WR) ran for 2 touchdowns.
