Just what will happen now for the remainder of the Cats season as they lose their number one receiver in Dicky Lyons?

Just what will happen now for the remainder of the Cats season as they lose their number one receiver in Dicky Lyons?

Lyons Out for the Rest of the Season

The answer is, no one really knows. For anyone who missed it, looking at the picture above you can see exactly what happened. Lyons has a torn posterior cruciate ligament and a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee. So now the Cats will be without their number one receiver for the rest of the season(and sorry, no more referring to the Daily Dicky). He is schedule to have surgery on the knee after the swelling goes down so there is no date on that yet.

As far as answering the question I asked above, well looking at the numbers, the Lyons led the team in receiving on the year with 33 catches and 264 yards, and only 2 touchdowns. Derrick Locke is next on the list with 22 catches and 189 yards. For the next actually receiver on the list, well that goes to Randall Cobb who only has 8 catches for 84 yards.

The offense this year has not been known as a strength for the Cats so far this season. What is ironic about that is the fact that everyone thought the running game would be huge this year. However, the Cats rank 96th overall in total offense, averaging 317 yards per game. The rushing game is ranked 80th while the passing game ranks 90th.

So with that being said, Cobb, TC Drake, Kyrus Lanxter and others will need to really step up their game to fill the void that will be left by Lyons.

Halfway through the season, the Cats are now 4-2, and now on a two game slide. The offense will really need to get things going as the Cats finish the rest of their schedule with all S.E.C teams.

So, I leave you with this question:

How do you think the rest of the season with play out for the UK Football Cats? I am interested in hearing your thoughts.
