Ky. to receive $6 million from online gambling case

If you're looking for the most exciting Playoff Region of football in the Mountains look no further than Class 5A, Region 8. This Region was a toss-up throughout the season and could be much more of the same in the Playoffs.
#1 Mercer County vs. #4 Perry Central
The Commodores have a pair of play makers in Demetri Travis and Jordan Amis. Usually one has a big night while the other has a good night. If both players have a big night the Commodores could pull the upset. But they are still going to have to find a way to stop the Titans powerful running game. And stopping the run has not been a specialty for Perry Central.
#1 Whitley County vs. #4 South Laurel
Speaking of power running games... few teams have a better ground attack than Whitley County. The Colonels are led by Fullback Jason Powers (1253 Yards, 19 TDs) and Cody Jones (724 Yards, 18 TDs). The only team that has slowed them down was Bell County. South Laurel can hit the big play through the air with Ricky Bowling but the Cards haven't shown much on defense.
#2 Letcher Central vs. #3 Southwestern
This may be the best game in the Mountains on Friday. Both teams seem evenly matched. Coach Hillard Howard is concerned with the Warriors size up front. This could be a very physical match up. Quarterback Charlie Banks (the "Tim Tebow of the Mountains") is the player to watch in this one.
#2 Pulaski County vs. #3 Clay County
Two teams that put up a lot of points but struggle on defense. The Maroons average 35 points a game while the Tigers average 34 a game. This one could go either way depending on which team gets in a rhythm.
Let the games begin!!!
