Even "Steven"son

Kentucky sneaks past Florida, but how did they do it?

Well, as previously discussed on Sports Overtime pregame, Brian Milam stated that the Cats would need several role players to step up. It could not just be the Jodie Meeks or Patrick Patterson show.

That was the most evident right off the tip. Jodie Meeks scored UK's first nine points of the game, but the Cats still trailed. It was not until Perry Stevenson got into the action. At the break the Cats found themselves even with Florida @ 30. Then that is when Josh Harrellson found his way into the game as well. (I remember in the beginning of the year, everyone was so high on this guy, but where has he been all season?). Tuesday night, he finally showed what he could do, shooting 5 of 6 from the field.

Jodie Meeks had his usual line: 23 points, five boards, but Patrick Patterson was limited, especially when he went down with what looks like an apparent ankle injury.

He finished with only 7 points and 8 boards, so it was imperative for the other guys to step up and that they did for the Cats, snapping a three game slide in the SEC.

Nick Calathes showed that he was nearly unstoppable as he dropped 33 points on the Cats, but it was Jodie Meeks who saved the day with the game winning shot for the Cats.

But the Cats still need to play more as a team if they expect to continue to win in the SEC and obviously if they are going to get out of the first round in the NCAA Tournament come March.
