While it may not get as much attention from fans, the Girls' Sweet 16 is still an incredible tournament where dream die hard.  Day one of the Girls' Sweet 16 was not kind to the Mountains.

Breathitt County found themselves in a real battle with Simon Kenton.  Unfortunately, the Lady Pioneers used a strong third quarter to pull away and win 46-37.  Kendall Noble put up solid numbers across the board scoring 11 points (including going 9-16 from the free throw line), grabbing a game high 12 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists.  Eden Keeton also had a strong performance scoring 8 points (on 4-6 shooting) and pulling down 8 rebounds.  It was the third straight trip to Bowling Green for the Lady Bobcats.  Looking ahead to next season, Breathitt County returns a lot of talent and should be a major player in the Region.

Despite having only 3 field goals at the half, Johnson Central trailed by only 8, 24-16 at the break.  However, Casey County opened up a big lead in the 3rd and never looked back winning 54-29.  Johnson Central truly struggled shooting the ball connecting on 6-37 shots from the field for 16.2%.

That leaves only Clay County left from the Mountains.  They face Ohio County on Thursday at 7:30 (ET).  If you remember back to last season, Ohio County knocked Rockcastle County out of the State Tournament in the first round.  The Lady Tigers will look to avenge that loss.
