Middlesboro and Paintsville headed to Lexington this weekend to battle for an All "A' baseball title.

I had the luxury of heading to yet again another State Tournament, and it was another memorable one.

The first game was scheduled for 10am in the morning, so I left Hazard, at 7:30am to get to the park at 9:30am. As I walked in to the entrance, I met up with Phelps boys coach and one of the regional directors for the tournament, Clay Campbell, and he says to me, "Did you hear what they are going to do?" Of course I said no, but immediately knew what he was talking about. All weekend, there was talk of of a threat of rain for both the Kentucky Derby, which was taking place an hour down the road in Louisville and here in Lexington, where the tournament was being held.

Clay, then proceeds to tell me that All "A" committee has determined to play all of the games, with the exception of the championship game in one day. I immediately though, its just like the All "A" basketball tournament.

(Let me refresh your memory if you have forgotten. The basketball tournament was held in Richmond, KY this past winter and took place, ironically enough during the Ice Storm of 2009. So, instead of alternating days between the girls side of the tournament, and the boys side. They decided to start the games later the first day and knock out all of the girls games in one day minus the championship.)

So back to the baseball tournament. So, with the committee to play all but one game Saturday, I knew that I was in for one long day. The schedule originally had, Middlesboro playing @ 10am and Paintsville playing @ 3pm in the first round. The semi-finals were then to be played on Sunday.

But the new schedule had the semi final games starting after the fourth first round game that was scheduled at 5pm.

So, baring a Middlesboro win, there game would start at or around 7:30pm, and if Paintsville were to win, that game would start at or around 9:30pm.

To find out exactly what happened in those game, check out the All "A" Recap attached to the blog.

One final note, I enjoyed yet again another great experience at the All "A", and can't wait for the playoffs.
