Another Friday is upon us and that means more High School Football.

Another Friday is upon us and that means more High School Football.

#7 Belfry @ #4 Whitley County

Both teams face a Mountain Top 10 Team for the second straight week.  While Belfry is coming off a dramatic win over Letcher Central, the Colonels of Whitley County looked bad against Bell County.  The Colonels did not perform up to their ability and they will be looking to remedy that this weekend.  It's an interesting game in terms of style.  Both teams run offenses that leave the linebackers guessing as to who has the ball.  Definitely a ground game.  The game probably will be won or lost along the line.

Knox Central @ Clay County (Appalachian Bowl)

(Live on WYMT, Friday at 8:30)

It's a physical football game in Manchester on Friday night.  The game will be live on WYMT at 8:30.  Knox Central seems to have righted the ship after stumbling to an 0-2 start out of the gate.  The Panthers still have a lot of work to do on defense. They are giving up nearly 30 points a game and have yet to hold an opponent under 21 points in any of their 4 games this season. Clay County is led by a strong rushing game. J.V. Hooker, Noah Reid and C.J. Miller form a 3 headed monster on the ground.  From all reports the paint job on the field looks incredible.  It doesn't the game, but I'm glad to see people taking pride in what they're doing.

Middlesboro vs. Johnson Central (Appalachian Bowl)

The first game of the Appalachian Bowl does not look like a good match by record (combined 1-7), but both teams have talent once they get it all figured out.  Johnson Central keeps it on the ground while Middlesboro will go to the air.  Whoever controls the tempo will control the game.

Williamsburg @ Hazard

Defense will be key in this game... for both teams.  Hazard will have to find a way to slow down the Yellowjackets quick strike offense.  Coach Mark Dixon praised an experienced Ryan Moses at Quarterback.  While Williamsburg has been explosive on offense, their defense has more than struggled.  The Jackets are giving up over 35 points a game.  The last 2 weeks have been especially bad, giving up 47 and 48 points in their 2 games.

Pulaski County @ Rockcastle County

Two neighboring counties collide when the Maroons make the drive to Mount Vernon to face Rockcastle County.  Both teams are looking pretty good right now.  After starting the season 0-2 Pulaski County has rebounded for 2 straight wins and a 2-2 record.  The Rockets have also won 2 straight games and are 2-1. Clark Rowe is really making a strong showing in the early going.  Rowe has 428 yards and 5 touchdowns rushing against some strong competition.

Paintsville @ Allen Central

The possible top 2 teams in Class A, District 8 collide in Eastern, KY this Friday night.  The winner will have an early leg up on the District.  Keep your eye on this one.

Anyone have any thoughts on these or any other games?  As always support your local teams.
