HS State Tennis Results (After Day One)

The tennis state tournament has begun over in Lexington and after day number one, Corbin is the only school with representatives remaining in the round of 16.

The tennis state tournament has begun over in Lexington and after day number one, Corbin is the only school with representatives remaining in the round of 16.

For the boys, Brody Freeman has advanced to the round of 16. In the first round Freeman defeated Berea's Sam Jackson 6-0, 6-1. In the round of 32 Freeman went on to defeat North Hardin's Chrys Castro 6-1, 6-1.

For girls doubles, Erin Hart and Jaclyn Jewell have made it to the round of 16. In the first round, they defeated a pair from Butler County 6-2, 6-3. In the round of 32, the two then defeated a team from George Rogers Clark (Clark Co.) 4-6, 6-1, 7-6(0).

Others of note:

In boys singles, Dillon Watts of Knott County Central won his first round match before falling in the round of 32 in boys singles.

In girls singles, Middlesboro's Taylor Moyers along with Pikeville's Shikha Sachdeva advanced to the round of 32 before being eliminated.

In girls doubles, South Laurel's Lyndsay Collette / Neha Rao along with Johnson Central's Lauren Estepp / Hannah Phelps advanced to the round of 32 before losing out.
