Later tonight, the North Laurel Lady Jaguars and the South Laurel Lady Cardinals gets set for another cross town rivalry game. The last time these two teams squared off, it was the Lady Cardinals who came away victorious with the 3-1 win.
Both teams have had stellar seasons; South currently stands at 34-6, while North is 30-9.
But here is one of the match-ups to look at. North's stellar pitcher Megan Taylor versus South's superb hitter Emily Gaines. Taylor is currently 25-6, with 342 K’s in 188 innings. She also has an ERA of 0.93, with 93 hits given up. On the other hand, Gaines is batting .646 (82 for 127) with 16 home runs and 62 RBI.
This one on one match-up is definitely one to watch.
The game is scheduled for later tonight @ 7pm over at Corbin High School. The winner will represent the 13th region in the softball state tournament held in Owensboro next weekend.
South Laurel has three regional titles, while North has 12 regional titles and a state title.
