Here is day five (Thursday), in sports at WYMT.

Hey guys, checking in with all of you on one of the busiest days of the week for me Thursday. The day before Sports Overtime. Here is how it began.

2:30pm - Walked in the office and immediately started working on a preview we do for the 4pm newscast. Basically after we tape our Prep Zone show on Wednesday nights, we also tape a preview of the show which runs Thursday's during the four. So that was my first order of business. But as always, while I am trying to work on my videos, I am constantly receiving phone calls from viewers and coaches.

3:40pm - So because of all the phone calls, I finally finished the video. Then it was time to start working on the 6pm newscast which ended up being really easy. I knew I was getting highlights and sound from MacKenzie up in Frankfort because Betsy Layne played in one of the early games. I was also getting a recap of day one from all of the girls games that took place. On top of all of that, Josh was heading out to Pikeville to do a live shot in sports with UPike head coach Kelly Wells, promoting their game with Cumberlands later in the day. So, my six was pretty much done.

5pm - But then it was time to start preparing for the 11pm. I knew I had a lot to fit in. We had the live game with UPike and Cumberlands men, Josh shot the girls game of the double header for highlights and then left the Expo Center to get to Pike Central for a girls high school game between the Lady Hawks and Lawrence Co. From Mackenzie I was going to get the Barbourville game and the Buckhorn game with sound for both. And finally Jim Frasure was going to interview the winning coach of the UPike / Cumberlands men's game to send back to the station for the 11pm.

6:30pm - So after the news, like always we had our post news meeting. Quickly after, I ran to get something to eat(salad of course).

7pm - When I got back from getting food, I quickly started to pre-produce our 11pm sportscast so I could watch the UPike/Cumberlands game and log all of the big plays for the highlights.

8pm - The game began and I was ready to log the game as well as keep an eye out for the all the information I needed from the All "A" games.

9pm - Now every night around 9pm, the phones start to ring off the hook. Try watching a game, writing scripts, looking up stats and answering phones while taking scores all at once. That is always fun once 9pm hits.

11pm - Everything is finally done for the 11pm and I can relax for a moment before heading out on the set.

11:40pm - After our post news meeting, Josh and I taped our locker room segment for Friday 4pm newscast.

12:15am - After that was done, I began to voice the Sports Overtime open for the show.

12:30am - Once the voicing was done, I had to find all the video to match what I was talking about along with finding bloopers from the year to put in to the open.

1:20am - Spoke with MacKenzie to go over our plan from Frankfort for tomorrow.

2:30am - By this time, the open was finally put together the way I wanted it, but still on tap for the night was putting Sports Overtime together. Usually the show's format and order is done by Wednesday, but with the All "A" taking place, you can't predict who will win and lose, so with all the boys being elimiated, I could finally put together the show, kind of. As of right now, we have two plans. What we will do if #3 Magoffin County wins in the morning and what we will do if they lose in the morning.

3:30am - While putting the show together, I am also saving video that we shot earlier in the week. Again, we also save all of the good video from the game we shoot every night. That is how we keep video of players, teams and championships throughout the years.

4am- I finally got to a point where I was done putting the show together, but the show isn't done. Tomorrow, Josh and  I will come in a finish up the loose ends of the show.

But I am heading home to work out!

- 4:15am signing out!
