Davis, Patriots "On Fire."

After I watched Knott County Central win the 14th Region Championship more than a week ago, Zack Davis told me something that I just merely chuckled at.  He said that when the Patriots won the Region two years ago, the team rode up to Lexington to play in the state tournament, but really didn’t get off the bus.  (They were beaten by Butler 57-46.)

Fast forward almost two years, give or take two days, and Knott County Central is playing in the quarterfinals of the Boys Sweet 16 for the first time since 1993!

The Patriots defeated Boone County 71-54, shooting a blistering 65.7%, the third highest percentage in the History of the Boys Sweet 16.  They only missed THREE field goals in the 2nd half (13-16).

They had four players in double figures, Davis (19), Simon Christon (19), Evan Hall (12) Camron Justice (11).  Seth Adams had eight points as well.

Now this team is playing in the elite eight with a chance to play in the final four on Saturday, which would be uncharted waters for the Patriot program.

Davis, one of the team’s five seniors said, the win was great but he’s not satisfied.  Like all competitors, he wants to cut the nets down Saturday and complete his legacy as a State Champion.

And let’s be honest, if they have another performance like they did Thursday… that’s a possibility.
