Perry County cleaning up after flashing flood
Posted: 6:00 PM - Heavy rains caused major problems in the Perry County community of Big Creek, after flash flooding swept away cars and flooded an elementary school.
Today began WYMT's first day of preparing for the high school football season as we held the first day of our high school football interviews over at Clay Co. Monday.
Four teams made the trek to Clay County including the host Tigers. Joining them Monda,y were Knox Central, Pineville, and Rockcastle County.
As usual, the interviews were a mix of seriousness thrown in with some joking around with the kids. The most memorable moments of the day were Clay Co.'s Jacob Hyde telling us he would date Carrie Underwood because she has "legs to die for".
Knox Central's Jeffrey Canady would then co-sign the thought as he told us the same exact thing, without even knowing Hyde told us that ealrier in the day. Speaking of Canady, it looks like he put on a good solid 15 pounds of muscle, and looks to really make an impact on the field this season for the Panthers.
Pineville's Andrew Douglas, Jamie Roan, and Byron Asher made the trip with head coach Bart Elam. The Mountain Lions are looking to find the same success they had back in 2010 when they finished 8-4. With the addition of a couple of kids from Middlesboro including wide receiver Tanner Mike, Pineville could be a threat.
Rockcastle Co. was the final team up for the day. Now, I have been here for 6 years and it seemed like the same Rockets team they are traditionally. They look like they are small in size, but they are huge when it comes to heart. Don't sleep on this team. We could see the same hard hitting defense we are used to seeing from the Rockets. Corey McPhetridge returns for his junior year under center as he looks to lead the offense.
