Faried a big hit for Big Blue All-Stars

The Big Blue All-Stars have done exactly what they have set out to do after their first three games.

But what if I told you the best player on that team comprised of former Kentucky Basketball players, who are all playing in the NBA, played in a different shade of blue?

Former Morehead State standout, Kenneth Faried has been a monster for the Big Blue All-Stars.  With his pogo stick-like ability to jump out of the gym and throw dunks that rattle the ground the arenas were built, Faried has shown he is the most exciting player on the Big Blue All-Stars roster.

While in the Blue and Gold, Faried was named the Three-Time OVC Defensive Player of the Year, a Two-Time OVC Player of the year while leading the Eagles to the NCAA Tournament in 2009 and 2011.

Oh yeah, did I mention he’s the all-time leading rebounder in the modern era of College Basketball?

Faried has tallied double-digit points and rebounds in all three games in the Big Blue All-Stars exhibition series.  Catching Alley-oop passes from former Kentucky Standouts like Rajon Rondo, DeMarcus Cousins and Brandon Knight, he is getting more “Ooohhh’s and Ahhhh’s” than many of the former Cats.

While he might not get the star power like a Rondo, Cousins, or even Josh Harrellson, he is proving to everyone who bought a ticket so far that he can hang with the best of them. MSU Coach Donnie Tyndall offered him a scholarship at Morehead State and since then, he shattered records and his jersey was retired before his senior season ended.

Faried is expected to participate in the Big Blue All-Stars vs. The Villains game on October 24th at Rupp Arena a member of Christian Laettner’s bad guys.  But shouldn’t he be on the Big Blue squad?  After all, Faried defeated the hated Louisville Cardinals in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year.

So keep grinding, Kenneth.  You’re making people all across the Commonwealth proud, even if you wore a different shade of blue.
