The SEC in the NCAA Tournament

The Southeastern Conference will have two teams represented in the Elite 8 this season as Florida and Kentucky both advanced. Those two teams are also the only two teams in the country to have advanced to an Elite 8 in four of the last five seasons. The league is 9-1 this season in the NCAA Tournament. Kentucky Leads in NCAA Tournament Wins Not only does Kentucky lead the nation in NCAA Tournament wins all-time (114), it also leads the country in wins in the tournament since 2010, when John Calipari first led the Blue and White into the Dance. Kentucky has the most wins of any school since 2010 with 16 (12 – Florida, Kansas, Louisville; 11 – Butler, Duke, Michigan State, Ohio State, Syracuse). Calipari’s NCAA Tournament Experience While the young Wildcats may lack in NCAA playing experience, they more than make up for in NCAA coaching experience. Head coach John Calipari is making his 15th appearance in the tournament. He has amassed a 41-13 (.759) record which includes a national title (2012), a national runner-up finish (2008), four Final Fours, nine Elite Eight appearances and 11 Sweet 16 appearances. He is one of only two coaches to lead three different teams to the Final Four.

Calipari coached teams have appeared in seven of the last nine Elite 8s, and his winning percentage of .759 is tied (M. Krzyzewski) for the best mark among active coaches in the NCAA.
