The prior three years before Mark Stoops arrived as the head coach of the Kentucky football program, only three four-star recruits came to Lexington.
This weekend, Stoops landed two, making it 17 total 4-star recruits who have committed to become a Wildcat during Stoop’s short stint so far.
Jabari Greenwood (Washington, DC) and Dee Fullwood (Onley, Md.) committed to Kentucky this weekend.
Greenwood is a 6-4, 190-pound receiver who talked to WYMT upon his announcement.
“The end goal for me is of course I want to play at the highest level of football,” Greenwood said. “I want to play in the NFL so. I just know (wide receiver) coach (Tommy) Mainord -- he will get me there and I will definitely have the opportunity to make it there with obviously playing in that type of offense, catching a lot of passes so I look forward to getting down there, and I really think they can take my game to the next level."
With Greenwood and Fullwood committing to UK, that brings the total of 2015 commitments up to 12.
“It was a combination of pretty much everything -- the atmosphere down there, everybody loves Kentucky,” Greenwood said. “Everybody thinks it's a basketball school, but really, football is a huge sport down there. Along with coach (Tommy) Mainord -- he's a great recruiter. He's my wide receivers coach. He played a huge role in why I chose Kentucky. And it also fits me as a football player as far as the offense. They run a spread offense; they pass a lot so I am looking forward to getting down there and playing early."
