Perry County cleaning up after flashing flood
Posted: 6:00 PM - Heavy rains caused major problems in the Perry County community of Big Creek, after flash flooding swept away cars and flooded an elementary school.
Here are a couple of notes on several local baseball and softball players playing up in Lexington this spring.
Chandler Shepherd (Lawrence Co.) is currently 2-0 with a 3.15 ERA in 5 appearance with the Kentucky Wildcats. In 20 innings pitched, he has 11 strikeouts giving up 7 earned runs. Shepherd picked up his 2nd win last night vs. Cincinnati after throwing 5.2 innings, striking out 2, while giving up 2 runs and 5 hits.
In 8 games with the Wildcats softball team, Emily Gaines (South Laurel) is batting .182 with 2 RBI and 2 extra bases.
In 8 appearances with EKU Matt Fyffe (Johnson Central) has a 1.43 ERA. In 19 Innings pitched he has struck out 14 while only giving up 3 earned runs.
In 5 starts with EKU, Shane Grimm (Paintsville) is 1-4 with a 4.81 ERA striking out 13 batters and allowing 13 earned runs in 24.1 innings pitched.
John Wilson (Clay Co.) has yet to get a hit in 4 plate appearances with EKU, however he does have 1 RBI and has scored a run.
