So I have known for a long time this moment would come, and I've known for a long time what I would say, but actually having to write it down is a little bitter sweet.
I have accepted a position as a sports reporter for WLKY, the CBS affiliate, in Louisville. My first day with WLKY will be this Friday. I look forward to the new challenge and the new opportunity that has presented itself.
I have spent nearly 6 and a half years at WYMT learning the on air aspect of the television business. Learning the area, coaches, players, community and the rich tradition of sports in the WYMT coverage area. During my time, I have met a great deal of people who have made a lasting impression on me. There have been so many people who have taken me in with open arms, and it is greatly appreciated. There are so many people from the WYMT coverage area I will never forget, and it is each and everyone of you who have helped improve as my career has progressed.
The best part of the job for me was being able to get out and meet all the wonderful people of Eastern Kentucky. The hospitality of the fans, players and coaches will be greatly missed. I feel extremely honored to have a been a small part in the history of Eastern Kentucky sports and WYMT sports.
The passion the fans have in cheering on their communities and teams is unlike anything I have ever seen, and I am glad I had the chance to experience it. WYMT and the coverage area will always have a special place in my heart.
Again, I want to thank everyone at WYMT for accepting me and taking a chance on a young aspiring reporter who had little talent at the time, but tons of drive and determintation. Thank you for being patient with me as I was patient with you.
The things I have learned here will never be forgotten, and will always be part of who I am. Please don't be strangers, and if you ever need anything, please let me know.
