Here is a sampling of some of the top performers around the Mountains from the past week of action.
Boys
Hobo McCoy (Pike Central) - Averaged 29 points, 4 assists and 2 rebounds per contest in his teams 3 games. Shot 87% from the Free Throw line. He also had 44 points against Winfield, WV.
Matt Day (Buckhorn) - Averaged 25.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in his teams two wins over Harlan County and South Laurel. Day has had a double-double in all 5 of his teams games.
Girls
Hollie McCarty (East Ridge) - Averaged 14.8 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game in the Lady Warriors 4 contests.
Carla Booth (Sheldon Clark) - Averaged 22 points in her teams 3 games. She also surpassed the 2,000 career point mark in her teams win over Lawrence County.
Jamie Castle (Magoffin County) - The Freshman point guard had 28 points, 6 assists and 3 steals in the Lady Hornets District win over Paintsville. She was also 3-4 from 3.
Kayla Smith (Clay County) - In 2 games last week against Whitley County and Sheldon Clark, the Senior Point Guard scored 29 points, had 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 76% from the field.
Rachel Potter (Pikeville) - The Freshman point guard had two big games in her teams wins over Belfry and Johnson Central. She averaged 18.5 points, 6 assists and 2.5 steals in the Lady Panthers victories. She also hit the game winning free throw with no time on the clock in their 57-56 win over Johnson Central on Friday night.
Hillary Moore (Leslie County) - In her teams win over Hazard she scored 29 points and had 10 rebounds. For the season she is averaging 35 points and 10.5 rebounds for the 2-0 Lady Eagles.
Triston Curtis (Powell County) - The Freshman forward had a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds in the Lady Pirates 68-46 win over Owsley County. She also added 6 steals.
