We are just under 8-weeks from RunThe Bluegrass at Keeneland, and some of you have signed up to be on Sam’s Prostate Cancer Free Running Team. Thanks! If you have not heard, this race is a half-marathon (13.1-miles) along the beautiful rolling hills near Keeneland. There will also be relays so you don’t have to run the entire thing. If you go to the RunTheBluegrass website, click under Sponsors and Partners, you’ll see my team info, or click on this: http://www.runthebluegrass.org/2012-sponsors-and-partners/sams-prostate-cancer-free-running-team
By joining our team sponsored by U-K Healthcare and the Markey Center you will receive a race shirt from my team and an autographed book, “Natural Running,” by our expo speaker, Danny Abshire, of Newton Running. Also $10 of your race registration fee will go to local prostate cancer awareness and education.
I know my life may have been saved because I made regular, annual visits to my urologist due to my family history with the cancer. Now more than a year after removing my prostate and all the cancer, doctors say I am ready to run a half-marathon on March 31st. I hope you’ll join me, and drop by the expo on Friday, March 30th , to pick up your race shirt and book. You’ll also receive a 2nd race shirt for RunTheBluegrass that is different from my team’s. The race expo on Friday the 30th is from noon-8pm in the Keene Barn.
We also need to get the ladies involved in this effort. My running team is not just for the guys. Daughters, sisters, wives, granddaughters of prostate cancer patients are all needed and wanted on Sam’s Prostate Cancer Free Running Team.
A big thank you to UK Healthcare and the Markey Center for sponsoring our team!
