Laurel Co. man accused of attacking two women & a dog
17 mins ago - A Laurel County man is in jail accused of beating up his ex-girlfriend, her mother and attacking the family dog.
Rounds of strong and severe storms rolled through eastern KY again on Wednesday. You mix that together with the heat and we have all kinds of issues. Expect more of the same on Thursday. We'll see the same old heat with some showers & thunderstorms developing during the afternoon and evening.
I think it is safe to officially say that we are in the middle of a heat wave. While there is no consistent definition of a heat wave... the universal idea is a heat wave is one when the temp is 90 or above for three consecutive days. Others will argue with that, but for the folks in KY I think that will suffice. So let the heat wave continue!

That's another Excessive Heat Warning for the folks in our region. Highs will fall between 90-95 and once again heat indices between 100 & 105. This time I think many of us will go through an extended period during Thursday & Friday with the heat index showing 105. Very dangerous stuff!!!

I was running some numbers on Wednesday and I checked on the 90 degree count for Jackson & London (Two of the most reliable official reporting stations) and here's what I came up with:

That includes a reading of 97 at Jackson on Wednesday... which is a record and 94 in London which is also a record. That 97 is what's really impressive though.
As time goes by this week you need to stick to those safety tips I have posted here so many times.

Rain will be back again on Thursday & Friday. Watch the radar for the latest on that!
