Fallen Kentucky marine honored at memorial ceremony
Posted: 7:00 PM - A Kentucky marine killed in action during the Gulf War is now part of a memorial in his hometown of Versailles.
The heat was defeated, but it did not go quietly into the dark night. I am pretty confident that we aren't done with the real heat just yet. Temps this week will run much cooler than where they have been lately. some spots were only in the low & mid 80s for highs on Monday. When you factored in the humidity it felt closer to 90 and beyond for a few areas.
The daily rain threat will be the bigger topic this week. Scattered showers and storms will begin slowly working back into Kentucky on Tuesday. The best chance to see the rain will be closer to the KY/TN or KY/VA borders. There could be a few creepers that slide a little farther north, but generally it will be right around those borders. So places like Harlan, Evarts, Middlesboro, Pineville, Whitesburg, Blackey, Eolia, Cumberland. Frakes, Williamsburg, Whitley City, Stearns, Monticello, and maybe even Elkhorn City stand a better chance to see rainfall on Tuesday.
NAM Tuesday Evening GFS Tuesday Evening EURO Tuesday Evening

Each of these runs have the precip in southern parts of KY. The EURO is pushing more moisture into KY than the other two. Rather than staying south of the Hal Roger's Parkway it is pushing the rain right up to it and maybe a little past. I am going with an in between blend that keeps the rain south of the parkway. Keep in mind that there could be a lone RAIN-GER...lol... that could drift even farther to the North.
I do think that most of us will stay fairly dry on Tuesday. Places like... Paintsville, Prestonsburg, Hazard, Salyersville, Pikeville, Jackson, and West Liberty. These should be the driest places around Tuesday. SO if you are in one of these communities keep in mind that if it is raining on you... it is probably a little worse south of your town!
I'll talk more about this week's rain later!
