We have all gotten pretty used to the sticky hot days. So why not start off the football season with the same old song and dance. The great thing about football season is how the SEASONS change tremendously from beginning to end. Even with professional baseball you don't get this kind of change. We start football out with heat delays for games and end it with possible snow storms on the horizon.
The heat we are about to enter isn't anything "Over the Top", but it will be close. Not like this guy in his 1980s movie about arm wrestling with the same name...

LOL... for some reason I couldn't get this out of my head after I wrote the title of this post.
Back to weather... Our Sports Director, Jeff Archer, asked me if I thought some of the games would be in the dangerous territory at the time of kick-off neared. It'll be plenty hot, but will it be hot enough to post delays? That's the big question! My forecast high for Friday is 90 with some decent, but not off the chart, humidity levels around that could be pushed into the mid 90s during the peak heating of the day. If the heat index goes much higher than that I will be shocked. It's just not looking like a super humid day.
NAM Highs

GFS Highs

It might be harder to see on the GFS... but it is spotting out 90-95
EURO Highs

The weekend will quickly follow the the heat in and it could feature some hotter temps too! But that's not where the bigger story will come from... the return of the rain is what most of us will notice.
EURO Sat PM GFS Sat PM NAM Sat PM

The rain will return by Saturday. But with the recent data I am beginning to think it will be a little later in the day. Essentially, you should have some time to get out and about before the rain sets in during the evening.
The better rain chances arrive on Sunday. As a matter of fact let's keep watching this image from the SPC to see if things change for Sunday...

I'll keep an eye out on this mess too!
