All Oklahoma tornado victims identified
Posted: 11:49 PM - The death toll from this week's monster tornado in Oklahoma stands at 24, with all victims positively identified.
It has been a very pleasant couple of days around the mountains of eastern Kentucky. It has been one of those many dips we have seen this summer. Which is a normal kind of thing!
Daytime highs through the weekend will begin to climb into the upper 80s. Along with the growing heat… we’ll find more chances of showers & storms. A series of disturbances will approach the region and bring the heightened threat of rain to our region. I am not seeing anything significant throughout the 7-Day Forecast.
As it stands we are not in super panic mode with dry conditions… though it would be nice to see our totals get back into the black. Little change in drought data from last week to this week. Though I believe there will be some, even if slight, change to the new data next week.
Also, one of our top stories on Thursday night was a story about a massive junkyard fire in Belfry, Kentucky. As I was sitting here I noticed something showing up on radar around 8pm or so…. but I paid it no attention because I thought it was ground clutter. This one spec grew and intensified… I knew it wasn’t rain…. but what was it? A few minutes pass and it comes across the intercom that there is a fire and it hit me…. this was the smoke that I was seeing on radar. The smoke was so intense that the radar was showing returns from this thick cloud of smoke. Which is not unheard of…. here’s what it looked like.
