If it hadn’t been for the clouds that streamed into Kentucky on Monday it would have been a terrible scorcher! Those clouds kept our temperatures down a few degrees. This won’t be the case on Tuesday as the heat and humidity both come rolling back into the Commonwealth of Kentucky. However, the big time heat outbreak is looking less likely and less oppressive!

A warm front is on the move and will pass by Kentucky by the Tuesday. This will open up the atmosphere to more moisture and heat! This combination will make it very uncomfortable for all of the folks here in Kentucky. We were fortunate to have low levels of humidity on Monday. I expect daytime highs to hang around the 90 degree mark! Factor in the humidity and it could feel more like the mid 90s around the region.

Relief will arrive by Wednesday as a cold front will quickly swing through the region. This will bump daytime highs in the low to mid 80s. There is also a slight possibility that overnight lows could dip into the low 60s and some model data is trying to paint the upper 50s into our region. I haven’t been sold just yet, but wouldn’t that be refreshing?!?!? OK back to the frontal passage… There will also be an increased chance of showers & storms as the front passes. It would be terrific to have some of that rain spread into the region. As we already know…. there are a lot of communities that are becoming more & more dry! It doesn’t look like the rainfall will be anything significant areawide.

Don’t forget that there is another tropical storm brewing in the Gulf Of Mexico. This storm is named… Edouard (eh-DWARD). It is expected to make landfall along the northern Coast of Texas. It could become a minimal hurricane before it is all said and done. Keep an eye on this one… after landfall it could take on a whole new form. By new form I mean slowing down and dumping a decent amount of rainfall across Texas!
