After dealing with a week of high humidity levels, yet semi-low temps, it is now time for the cooler & drier air to invade. Now some folks did hit those high numbers in southern Kentucky, but for most of the coverage are it was just rather warm at times. It is time for a much better period to begin!
Some of the highs in southern Kentucky were in the 90s. Factor in the humidity and you had yourself a pretty uncomfortable situation. I saw heat indices run into the mid 90s for those folks. It was really small chances of rain and the cloud cover that kept us from the widespread heat. The humidity was certainly there with us and now it is slowly creeping out of the region.
A front will be completely though Kentucky by Friday morning and this will be the beginning of that very nice period we have been waiting for. Highs in the low 80s and lows in the upper 50s and low 60s. Don’t get these overnight temperatures confused with Fall, though it will have that certain feel out there. I am a huge fan of Fall and I am looking very forward to that very subtle Fall feel. What a great weekend to hit the hills for camping or fishing or paint balling or yard work or Jenny Wiley Theatre or what ever else you can conjure up!
The next best chance of rain will occur on Monday night or into Tuesday. That’s about the most exciting part of the very calm forecast.
Story time… Wednesday night a couple of small cells rolled through Hazard and apparently caused some power issues at my house. So the power was out when I got home! Let me tell you folks… I had no idea what to do with myself!!!! So I pulled out some cards and played a few games of solitaire by light of a flashlight. It had been a while since I had been home and had no power. If power is off I am usually at the station, but not this time! Finally, it came back on and all of the world’s great technologies were working once again. Internet, TV, X-BOX, and the microwave! There is a point here… the next time you see one of the folks that work for your power company… I want you to give them a hug and say Jim Caldwell thanks you from the bottom of his heart! ;) I was serious about the hug! It’s very hard to imagine life before the lights were turned on… especially now with all of these modern technologies the need that power to keep our lives going.
Again… point of the story is to hug a power company worker!
