Ky. to receive $6 million from online gambling case
Posted: 06/19/2013 - Gov. Steve Beshear says Kentucky will receive a settlement of more than $6 million from a case involving online gambling.
As most of us know... Gustav made landfall Monday. Now the slow moving moisture associated with Gustav will be creeping through parts of the United States. Several inches of rain is expexted, but Kentucky could miss out on the moisture from Gustav.

This model is the GFS and it shows the bulk of the rainfall from Gustav hanging to our west. Amounts up to 5 inches are possible out there. With isolated amounts even higher. Notice that Kentucky stays dry from this system. What happens is a cold front comes chugging along and the remnants of Gustav will likely get hung up in that front and ride along the front like a car rides on a road. Slow movement of this system will make the totals very high on that end. This does show moisture over us... but that could be from a completely different tropical system!

What you see moving there to our east will be Hanna! Yet another tropical system that will likely visit the U.S. I am hoping that we will see some decent rainfall from Hanna. However, the path's certainty is still in question. It will be a big slug of moisture, but where will it travel? That's what I will be monitoring along with many other over the coming days.
This is the National Hurricane's projected path for Hanna. It will be something to really watch closely over the coming days.
I mentioned earlier that the whole family is out there and my friends there is more coming. Will these also attempt a visit to the U.S.? That's what all of us in the weather world will be debating this week!

You see there are 3 storms lining up and attempting to march across the Atlantic. So when I say the tropics are blazing hot... I mean every word!
As for the local forecast. I am thinking that showers could be a great possibility from Hanna, but that won't arrive until the weekend. SO until then we will be hanging out with the heat and humidity. Highs will be flirting with the 90 degree mark up until Saturday. That's when I actually think that rain could arrive around here.
