The remainder of the forecast period will include these cooler days and a few more chances of rain. Just as I have said all along, we have several shots to see some rain. The next chance will arrive here somewhere between Thursday afternoon & Thursday night. This round won't include a big push of shower activity. Though, a lot of us will get wet with the scattered showers that will be around the region.

Another front will arrive on Friday and this is out next really good chance for rain. I am thinking that as this front sweeps through the Commonwealth we will see numerous showers and perhaps a thunderstorms embedded within this round. I am thinking the bulk of the heaviest rain will fall to our north. My bet is on southern Ohio-northern Kentucky seeing the heavier amounts of rain. This could cause for some nasty conditions for all of you headed out to high school football action on Friday night. Not the many of the players though. A lot of these fields have gone to the Artificial turf, or synthetic turf, which is a man-made surface manufactured from synthetic materials, made to look like natural grass. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass. However, it is now being used on residential lawns and commercial applications as well. So players don't have the issues here like they do with the all natural grass.

As the front swings completely across Kentucky it will battle the high temperatures and keep them from returning to the region. Generally, I am thinking highs will remain in the upper 70s to low 80s all throughout this 7-Day Forecast!

Tropic Talk: TAKE A HIKE IKE!

I probably shouldn't be so cruel! I mean we do need the rains that Ike could spread our way. It's just that when this storm comes ashore it could really be packing a punch and that has me concerned. I worry that a lot of the folks along the Texas coast may be in for more than just a little sneeze from Mother Nature. Some of the latest guidance has Ike making it all the way up to a Category 4 storm again. It could be rather intense upon landfall as well. How about a Category 3 when it smacks into Texas?!?! That really could be a great possibility.

What I have here shows several different forecast models. Each show the where Ike could be heading over the next few days. The NHC takes this information, along with other data and put the forecast cone together for all of us! Here's what it shows tonight...

Now what I am going to tackle over the coming days will be the benefit of Ike for us right here. I am going to wait until landfall before I start committing to a forecast. Strange things can and do happen after the storm moves over land. As we get closer to that I'll start commenting more so on the potential rainfall! What I will show you is the HPC's forecast. I'll let you see it, but I am not saying this is how much rainfall I think will fall... YET!

I am hoping for more of a turn towards the southeast so that we all get in on the rainfall. The bulk of the moisture will be here by Tues PM-Thurs PM. That's all I will comment on for now!
