I Won't Jinx The Rain Chances

The last time I got a little excited about an approaching front and all of the rain potential it had... It fell a part rather quickly! So this time I won't use the term "RAIN" so loosely.

I am also going to explain what happened to me and this alleged "Friday Post"

Well you see it all started when I had to go to Guest Weather in Paintsville on Friday. I had to be there very early in the morning so that kept me tied up all day. (By early I mean at 10am) After spending the day there and doing as much of my own analysis courtesy of my cell phone... I got with my old pal Rob and we knocked a forecast out over the phone. By the time I finally arrived back here in Hazard, I was exhausted and went to bed rather early. (Again, by early I mean 1am) I couldn't even sit upright in a chair let alone try to type. Here's another catch... I had to be up and at the Hazard Country Club on Saturday morning for a Golf Scramble. One that Team WYMT did NOT win! After the was wrapped up I came home napped for an hour and was up the rest of the day. Basically, being lazy and dreading Monday morning. Once again, Team WYMT went to another Golf Tournament. However, this one wasn't so close and that meant get up early one more time. My good ole pal Freddie Hunt and I were up and out the door by 6:30am. At that point I was running on fumes, but we made the trip to Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville. (By the way we placed 4th) Finally, on top of everything else I am feeling the allergies beating my brains out! OK enough whining!

How about a weather discussion?

There is a front moving through the nation's mid-section as I write this post. It has moisture associated with it and there is a possibility that some of that moisture... whether it be clouds or "RAIN"... is headed for the commonwealth of Kentucky. This is great news... considering the fact that the University College of Agriculture says that we recently broke a record for the driest period since 1897. We need a few inches out of this and a few more out of several other systems. Here's what some of the models are suggesting with possible "Rainfall" forecasts.

GFS Through Thursday night

WRF Through Thursday Night

Both have the "Rain" around us, but the GFS is a little more generous with the totals.

Daytime highs will fall a couple days this week into the low 70s. That will be because of the thick cloud cover and the R-word.

I'll have more details coming very soon and I'll be responding to some of your comments!

C-Ya Bye
