Now For Another Round Of Change

In weather I am forced to say that quite a bit. BUT when the phrase works... use it!

We started this work week with very little to complain about. Other than the fact that it was once again a work week. We have seen plenty of sunshine and very warm temperatures. This will not make it through the week! The taste of the warm stuff that Mother Nature has spoiled us with will be just that... a taste. The cooler air is gathering its troops and plans to invade toward the end of the week.

Here's what's going on until then. High pressure keeps us unseasonably warm through at least Wednesday. I think then we'll see daytime highs in the low to mid 80s up until probably Thursday. That will be the first day that things start to change. It will all start with an increase of clouds and lead to some rain later on in the day. There is some indication that rain could arrive here by Wednesday, but I think all forecasts that are showing that now will change their opinion by Tuesday night. I see this all slowing down for eastern Kentucky.

Here's what it looks like on some of the models.

WRF has the rain arriving here by Thursday afternoon.

The GFS looks very similar with the timing and the moisture. So this is why I am leaning more towards a Thursday start for eastern Kentucky.

As for the real shot of cooler air that is set to arrive here... check out this.

You are looking at 30-35 degrees on this map. This is a surface temp forecast so sometimes you have to look even higher in the atmosphere to really get a solid picture on the temperatures. A lot of things can influence temps at the surface so we look over our heads as well.

It's hard for you to see, but this image is showing temps between 6 and 10 degrees C. Then you factor in some of those crazy formulas we learned in school and some other personal techniques and you get a big chill around here.
