Perry County cleaning up after flashing flood
Posted: 6:00 PM - Heavy rains caused major problems in the Perry County community of Big Creek, after flash flooding swept away cars and flooded an elementary school.
Timing means everything with this blog... If you read this soon after I post it on Wednesday night then you can take precautions in choosing your wardrobe or making necessary changes to any outdoor plans for Thursday. If you have decided to read this while at work Thursday morning... well... Get ready for some chills!
I am sticking with my guns here and I am going to say that highs will max out in the 70s during the early part of the afternoon. After we hit those numbers it looks like they will drop like a rock! Thursday evening will include readings somewhere in the 60s. The 50s will make an earlier appearance to our region. Which means that the drop still has plenty of time to take over the region. Sure we have seen the 50s for overnight lows here lately, but that is lows. The 50 degree range will be a number passed along the way to hitting the eventual bottom on Friday morning. This bottom isn't a super cold airmass, but it is a chilly one that finds itself in the 40s. This becomes a pretty common theme for the overall forecast.
Now, Sunday morning will be a different story! This is where the 30s could make another appearance in the mountains.
As for our rainfall situation... it's not looking good! There will be rain falling in the region, but I just don't see it amounting to much of anything! What drives my opinion is some of the data that I have been looking at this week. Check this out!

The WRF is showing less than a half inch.

The GFS is also showing less than a half inch.

The JMA JP3 Model (Japanese) is on the same page as the others.

Canadian too!
This is not the drought buster that we are all looking for! The main thing is the cool shot of air that rolls in right behind the cold front! That's the big deal about this cold front!
Check your thermometer through the day and post some readings at different times! If you only have the one used in your car just check it when you get in the car in the morning and the evening and let me know what it is saying!
