Ky. ranks No. 1 for whitetail trophy hunters
33 mins ago - The latest issue of Outdoor Life ranks the Bluegrass State as the top whitetail trophy state in the country.
Once again... a cold front has moved across Kentucky and it has allowed for some really cool air to begin a slow invasion into our region. So the nights are really going to chill you to the bone. As a matter of fact there is a Frost Advisory in place for all of eastern Kentucky. I am thinking lows will finally stop dropping once they reach the low 30s. I will also say this... since there is always one location that wants to ruin my overall forecast... some isolated valleys could dip into the upper 20s.
As far as the next few days are concerned... I do see a spike by Thursday. Temperatures will briefly climb into the mid 60s and possibly upper out in southern Kentucky. Why? There is a good looking system located to our west that will move across the country over the coming days. Since we'll be on the eastern side of this low that will mean a warm shot of air will arrive long before it ever gets here. Not only will we see the spike, but it will also bring some moisture right here to Kentucky! I am actually excited about what this could bring our way! It won't be a drought buster, but it could be a nice drink of water.

Here's the WRF's Precip Accumulation Forecast from now until Friday evening. It's already showing a decent drink of water through that period.

I have gone a little further in time with the GFS to show you what we could see through the whole weekend. This looks a little different from the WRF. The reason here is because the heaviest area of rainfall occurs right on top of eastern Kentucky. It is showing between 1.5" & 2" Not a bad little drink of water for our dry land!
I going to stay on the optimistic side with this forecast and say that we could really and truly see around 1.5" areawide. I won't commit to that 100% yet, but I am pretty close. Whatever the case may be... I do think we'll see widespread shower activity around the region.
I'll have more for you on Wednesday!
