It actually looks as if we are going to be dealt some fairly nice temperatures coming up around Thanksgiving Day. This pattern looks like it will stay on the calm side at least until the last half of the weekend. Though I do have some questions about the possibility of some rain trying to inch its way into Kentucky on Friday. It will be a close one.
Let's break down the next few days since each will be more important than your average day.
Wednesday: The day will start out on the chilly side. Temps around sunrise could be near 25 degrees or cooler in some locations. Temps will slowly climb into the low to mid 40s during the peak heating of the day. So if you are traveling anywhere across Kentucky then I am sure your ride will be pleasant... well... as far as weather is concerned! Did you know that almost every school kid I have talked to here recently says that they will be off school on Wednesday?!?!?! When I was in school (all those years ago) I am pretty sure that we were only off on Thursday & Friday. Lucky kids!
Thanksgiving Day: A gorgeous day will be experienced all across Kentucky. Highs around 50 degrees or even better than that. So if you want to take the kids out in the yard for a game of football or anything like that... feel free to get right on that and enjoy what Mother Nature is giving you. Just remember while you are eating that Turkey that the old man here will be right here in the Sky Alert Weather Center crunching numbers and forecasting weather. Feel sorry for me yet? There will not be a 4pm news that day Just a 6pm and 11pm. I haven't seen the program schedule for that day, but I am sure if WKYT is on at 5 & 5:30pm we will be carrying them as usual.
Black Friday: Have fun! Weather stays nice for all of you heading out to the area shopping centers. If you plan on waiting in line early that morning then I encourage you to dress very warm. Not because it is going to be super cold, but because you will really be chilly after standing outside for a couple of hours. But trust me... after you get into the store of your choice you will heat up in a hurry! Whether it be by anger because someone grabbed the last iPod or the last copy of Halo 3 (ha ha) or the overwhelming crowd that you will be fighting through. I went to a Black Friday Sale for the first time this past year. I didn't buy a thing I just watched people and learned how to dodge flying cameras and high speeding shopping carts or a buggie... which is what I have called them all my life.
There is some debate in my head about the rain chances late on Friday. If it happens or doesn't happen it will be only a few miles that separates us from the rain.
This model is actually toying with some snow possibilities for early Saturday. Just notice that it is barely over the border.
Check back for my long-term winter prediction on Thanksgiving Day!
