I walked outside a little while ago 6amish and noticed that my road was dry. However, I didn't see much in the way of snowfall here at my house. Other locations did pick up less than an inch. That moisture has made for some extremely bad conditions in many locations here in the mountains. It will take the sun coming up and warming things to really get the thaw factor involved. As far as temps go on Sunday... I don't really see them getting very warm at all. Highs will knock on the door of the freezing point. The good news with that is... the sun's energy will present a melting factor to any and all of the moisture that is left out there. So that means the main roads could begin to clear a little while after sunrise. The problem will be the secondary roads. Growing up here in eastern Kentucky, specifically Magoffin County, there are certain roads that I know for a fact see very limited sunshine during the sunniest of days. We all know where theses roads are and this will be the slick factor. I noticed several salt trucks out pre-treating and salting the roads last night. That was a great move in keeping the roads a little safer for necessary travel. I don't advise anyone to be out until the sun has risen and things begin to thaw out. This goes to show you that even the least amount of winter weather activity can cause many problems! As for the rest of the forecast period... it looks like more wintry weather is on the horizon for us this week. Some of the model data suggests that the totals may not be as impressive. Though I do think that accumulating snow will be likely. I'll watch this one a little more closely over the next few days and I'll let you know what exactly I think is going on out there.
