Lexington shooting victim dies
2 mins ago - A man injured in a shooting at a Lexington apartment complex has died.
I am sorry about the extremely short update I provided earlier. Just as the title says "When it snows it pours" I mean that in every single way I can. It was like I couldn't beat the clock and get a decent post up for you guys.
The snow will be present through most of the day on Wednesday and that could make for a pretty high total for many locations. The higher you get on these moountains... the higher the totals will be for this system. Most locations have already picked up around 1" to 4" of snow at the time I am typing this sentence! When this is all said and done I think the totals will range from near 1" towards London & Somerset all the way up to around 8" on the highest peaks. That's why the NWS upgraded the Virgnia border counties to a Winter Storm Warning running through 7pm Wednesday evening.
The coverage of the snow wasn't that impressive, but the individual bands stole the show. That's where many of you got the quick 1" or 2" within like 30 minutes to 1 hour. If you recall from my last big post I thought there would be such things that got going when this system started to stretch its legs. The "Stripe" I was talking about on Monday night will be an area that has abnormally higher snow totals than many surrounding communities. We'll see where most of that happened at when this whole thing is finished.
Did you happen to notice the flakes that were flying early on Tuesday? Those flakes had some considerable size to them while the sun was out and it was relatively warmer. As it got colder the flakes got smaller... which is the common thing that happens when the temps drop to these levels and the snow keeps coming.
Roads are terrible out there and the salt will do little to fix that! So stay in if at all possible!
I had planned to go on and on about this one... and throw some pics up here... but I am super tired from working the morning and evenings this week. I think I'll give you my final call for snowfall and pass out!

I didn't put the "Stripe" in there because the uncertainty of that wasn't worth adding another color to the rainbow I have already made for you guys. Throw your totals up here and we'll figure it all out Wednesday night!
Thanks guys for increasing the hits on the ole blog these last couple of weeks. For those of you who just started visiting this blog recently... I just want you to know that you can come back anytime with any type of weather situation and I'll be posting.
Also... do any of you guys have Twitter? I hadn't even heard of it until my boss, Neil Middleton, asked me to make an account. It's like a myspace or facebook... yet it isn't. Unlike my personal myspace & facebook accounts this one is strictly for work. Get an account and get online with us go to twitter.com if you have myspace or facebook you can add wymt to your friends list.
