The Heat Has Slipped Back Into The Area

After a couple of nice days, temperature-wise, we are now looking at the heat returning!

After dealing with a very wet pattern... we have taken a break from that activity and are now dry and hot... briefly!

Tuesday's daytime highs will climb the thermometer and end up back in the upper 80s and low 90s. There is a possibility that showers & storms will begin showing up on the radar by the afternoon & evening hours. Keep that in mind if you have any plans outside during the evening.

More rain chances will be around on Thursday, but there we'll also see a big decrease in temperatures around the region. Highs will fall from the 80s down into the 70s. We will be dealing with some much cooler air for a couple of days. This means everyone from Hazard to Pikeville to Somerset to Pineville to Harlan to Whitesburg to Hyden to London to Hindman to Salyersville to Middlesboro to Paintsville to McKee to Prestonsburg to Whitley City to Hindman to Monticello to Jackson to Inez to Mount Vernon to Barbourville to Williamsburg to Manchester to Beattyville to West Liberty to Booneville.... well you get the point I hope! ALl of us will see temps drop a few degrees later this week.

May 2009 went down as the 3rd wettest May and the 10th wettest month ever recorded at the NWS Jackson. This may sound impressive, but the records only go back to the early 80s so they don't carry as much weight as Lexington or some of the other stations that have been recording for a long time. London is a good gauge, but its distance from the rest of us is hard to cover. Though the folks down there did see the 4th wettest May on record. That says a lot since the records down there go back to the 1950s. Read the full report here!
