Metro-North: Conn. train outage expected for days
Posted: 12:48 PM - The Metro-North commuter rail line says crews will spend days rebuilding 2,000 feet of track, overhead wires and signals damaged in a derailment and crash in Connecticut.
The first leg of this system will bring a warmer airmass in and that means a wetter snow. We'll also see a some rainfall mixed in for a while too! I really believe most of our southern counties will see mainly rain tonight, while the wintry mix will be along the Mountain Parkway and closer to I-64. That's the area I have targeted for best possible ice accumulation.

The actual mix line will be interesting to make out. I do think we'll see on as we head through time.
NAM Tuesday Morning

GFS Tuesday Morning

The wintry mix/freezing rain line is right over the areas I mentioned earlier. Making for a mess around here overnight. Notice the rain in the south on both images, the green, it'll stay there a while.
NAM Very Early Weds

GFS Tuesday Evening

It takes the NAM a few hours longer to change everything over to snow. It's also only throwing it in here on the isolated variety. I am with the GFS on timing and the coverage. I think there will be a wide area covered with snow on the radar Tuesday evening. The Tuesday evening thru Weds morning will be the best time for the heavy snow. Same timeframe for the accumulation to begin to really add up!
GFS Snow through Thursday AM

NAM Through Thursday AM

My call for snowfall looks like this...

I'll have more for you later!
