Perry County cleaning up after flashing flood
Posted: 6:00 PM - Heavy rains caused major problems in the Perry County community of Big Creek, after flash flooding swept away cars and flooded an elementary school.
After reading some of your comments I see that it has started snowing in most places. I also have a favor... when you guys post snow totals let me know exactly where you are. That way I can get a better idea of where the heaviest snow ends up!I know many of you were so worried that it wasn't going to snow again... yeah right! Listen... If I miss this forecast that will be a blessing! I am just as tired of snow as many of you are. The costs are really adding up for people & businesses from all areas. Snow is fun a few couple of times, but this is ridiculous!

Once the main energy passes by... we'll have the moisture lingering on the back side and that will keep snowfall totals adding up. I really believe that the snow threat itself will be here through Thursday. Let me show you why!
NAM Tues AM NAM Thursday Morning

Every frame in between has moisture over our region. The last one is the Thursday morning image I have. After that, it appears that everything wraps up completely!
GFS Tues AM GFS Thursday PM

The GFS goes one step farther and keeps the moisture around up until the evening hours come on Thursday evening. Remember that anything that falls during this time, on either data set, will come down in the form of snow!
The GFS cranks out even more snow! This doesn't include the snowfall that some areas have picked up from Sunday night & Monday.

Not all of this would come at once... it will take the full run to see this kind of snow. Over the next few days it may even seem like the snow has stopped and the sun might even come out for a brief moment. Don't let that fool you... the snow will rotate back through again.
This would ultimately help out my cause with my total snowfall forecast.

This is through Wednesday night. More could fall on Thursday, but I think the cut-off for the decent accumulations will die with Wednesday. Though, Thursday could keep that extra coating chance alive.
Let's see what's happening in other parts of our area.
Somerset

Pikeville

Harlan

The cold is also being felt out there. You can keep up with these readings.
Actual Temp

Wind Chill

In parting... there is another system out there for this upcoming weekend. You know me... We'll talk about that once we get away from all of the headaches with this one!
