Wet & Warm

The days haven't been pretty, but it sure has been warm! Highs in the 60s and in some cases the 70s have even been showing up around here!

The warm temps is the big positive of the week. Despite the rain and heavy cloud cover we are really reaching some impressive heights! Thursday aand Friday will again be on the same playing field with the warm stuff. If you are caught under a shower you will experience some cooler temps. The overall picture looks really good for everyone.

Our in house RPM Model is looking good for Thursday

Not a bad looking Thursday afternoon with highs like this. I just ran this data before posting this and notcied that it is right where I am with my forecast highs. If your city isn't shown on the map here... places like Pikeville, Prestonsburg, Inez, Paintsville, and Louisa should max out close to 68. If you are wondering about Harlan, Hazard, Hyden, Hindman, Whitesburg, and Salyersville max highs will be in the mid 60s for you. Low and mid for the rest of southern KY.

RPM Friday

What you can see with Friday's data is that temps around us will be fine... the problem is what is waiting to the west. This is the cooler air that takes over KY for the weekend. At first it won't be such a major hit, but by Sunday we are back in the 40s for highs and 30s for lows.

The rain chances will be back again on Thursday. There could even be a few t-storms in our region. I think the higher probability of that will happen on Thursday & Friday! It will go down significantly with the weekend.

I am sure that some of you have plans on leaving KY behind and heading down south to Tennessee for a few days. Since the Cats have one of the best followings anywhere... I am sure a Nashville forecast will help many of you out as you plan to take in the SEC Tourney!

The same set-up for the folks down there is also destined for us with those cooling weekend temps.

Now to address an email from Sarah in Martin, KY She asked if I thought winter was over. NO, it isn't! I'm not sure of how much snow, but I still see some coming back within the next 2 and 1/2 weeks. Still quite a bit of time for that to change. The snow possibilities are still alive and well!

Here;s a comment from my old pal Derek. Remember, I have never met this kid! I have only played XBOX Live with him a few times and he quit playing with me... LOL

Jim, as much of a winter and snow lover as I am, these past few days have got me getting smallmouth and turkey fever. I am so ready for spring to do some serious overdue fishing and some long awaited turkey hunting. Wow, I cant even begin to tell you how much i have been envying the grill and flip flops. These past few days have spoiled me way too much. I am going to be mad at old man winter if he tries and gives one last stand here in E KY. I am getting married in june so I hope the weather is good in St. Petersburg, FL for the honeymoon. YES JIM, COMING JUNE, I WILL EXPECT AN IN DEPTH FORECAST FOR ST. PETERSBURG BEACH, FLA FOR JUNE 13TH - 21ST. If you can find the time buddy, I know it will be in the peak of severe WX season, but I'm sure you can give me some info. LOL. But for the first time in all my life, I am saying "happy trails old man winter." LOL I am ready for some Norris lake trips and all the other goodies that come with summer.

Derek... I will absolutely have a forecast for you... Obviously, We'll wait until closer to the date! I've never been married... I do hear it is wonderful though. When I read this post I nearly grabbed a picture of you two from Facebook and put it up here for all of the others to see. I'll still do it if you say it is OK.

As a matter of fact... if you are a regular reader of these posts or just someone who checks when the weather gets rough, send me a pic, jim.caldwell@wymtnews.com we'll throw a picture of you up here. That way we're not strangers anymore! We'll all be like a "What's on Jim's Radar" family... ;)

C-Ya Bye
