I am Awake!

I must have slipped off to sleep or something on Wednesday night. I had a post nearly finished and I have no clue where it is now?!?! Not that there was much going on... That will change a little!

I am fighting off sleep and sleep might be winning. When I am working my normal schedule during the evenings I get to bed pretty late and that makes it hard to get up extremely early. All week this week I have been heading out to area schools. So I am going to take a second to say hey, hi, and how are you to those students.

Floyd County Youth Leadership

The last group was more of a discussion. These kids were sophomores from Allen Central, South Floyd, and Betsy Layne High Schools. I guess I really can't call them kids now can I? It was supposed to be me ... up at a podium giving them a lecture and I did speak for a little while. I told them I ran out of things to talk about...LOL... I really didn't! I just sat around with them and asked them, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Then we would discuss, I would make strange faces and say weird things and tried to have a good time. Because life without laughter is no life at all! They may have thought that I was just killing time, but what I was doing is quite simple... I wanted them to know what they had planned was important! Sometimes positive reinforcement from a stranger like me can help them in some way! I don't know if I was showing good leadership skills, but I do feel like our small discussion in a little community center was huge! Good luck kids! I mean young people!

Now that I have bored you with my kids stuff... let's talk about the forecast.

Believe it or not... in some areas we had a few drops of rain. Some of the showers looked like small soakers on radar. One of our directors, Brian "Bubba" Risner, said he drove through a brief heavy shower. The coverage wasn't widespread, but it was nice to see some rain.

The front that will hopefully bring some much needed rain to the area is looking less and less impressive from a rainfall satndpoint. It really has some cooler air behind it, but the rain just isn't that amazing.

WRF Fri Afternoon                                 WRF Fri Evening

The WRF really isn't liking the rain. The next timeframe for early Sat morning didn't have any rain showing up.

GFS Fri Afternoon                                   GFS Fri Evening                                      GFS Early Sat

I added one extra with the GFS to show you the timing it has for the rain arrival. It's a little slower and if I only took this into consideration I would completely remove rain from my Friday forecast, but I don't just look at this data or the other. I have to compare a few. These are just my favorites. It looks like the rain will be out of the area before noon Saturday with this data.

The temps will take a big hit though. From highs in the 70s or 80s on Friday... down to the 60s by Saturday!
