Police: Drunk driver hits police cruiser
Updated: 7:50 AM - A Lexington Police cruiser was hit by another car during a traffic stop.
If you were outside on Wednesday... I am sure you were wishing that you were inside pretty quick! We expected the heat and humidity to climb in the area and that's exactly what we got!
Wednesday's Highs

Some other locations with the solid heat. These are the highest temps I could find for these places. So we'll call these the unofficial highs... Jackson & London are official!
JACKSON 89 LONDON 93 SOMERSET* 93 MONTICELLO* 92 WILLIAMSBURG* 91 MIDDLESBORO* 97 PIKEVILLE 94
In order to get out of the hot & humid mess I am afraid we'll have to deal with some showers & storms. A cold front will begin sweeping into the region on Thursday. It will bring a widespread chance of showers & storms to the region. It is only a cold front by name not by one of the key characteristics! Cold air will not be present... not even cooler air! Sure... we'll see a change in wind direction and the atmosphere will begin drying up some. That's the big positive that will come from the passing of this front! That air will become less humid. Temps will drop a few degrees... mid & upper 80s to right around 90. So enjoy this brief break from the nasty weather.
This deserves a quick mention... The folks at the NHC are watching the tropics for potential development. That development could go into the Gulf! With the recent oil spill I know many people will be watching. There is still a lot of uncertainty, but this is something we should all pay close attention to!

Early tracks have the system running into the Gulf! We'll keep watching for more info!
