Snakes Smuggled on Planes
0 mins ago - An East Texas man has pleaded guilty to smuggling snakes on several planes from South America to the United States.
Nearly everyone will want to hit the roads and travel somewhere on Christmas. The last thing one would want is to have to travel through deep snow to get to Grandma's house. That's why I am hoping this Christmas stays barely white!
This is a very important forecast. One that is touch and go... for those of you asking for an accumulation forecast tonight... I can't give you one! Not even a first call!!! I'll probably have one on Thursday night.
I have decided to answer some of your comments before I even mention the forecast.
Posted by: Anonymous DOnt you think you should let us know ahead of time. That way if it comes faster than expected people can get out and get food and stock up on things that they need. If they wait till the last minute roads and thing will be bad as you say. How much snow is coming?
Anonymous... I'm just not comfortable issuing a forecast for snowfall yet! Not tonight... there will be plenty of time to stock up if it comes to that. Here's one thing I feel confident about... this weekend will be wintry. How wintry is the BIG question that I am still trying to answer! I won't let you down with timing... I promise!

jim u need to update more often
Bill... I'd love to! But... nearly all of the news stories you see on our web channel are posted by me. It's tough to get around to the blog with other obligations so I do what I can! Sorry for letting you down!
Now that we have cleared that up... let's talk about the system!

I want to stress that this is older data! The newer runs will be out soon and I will update at that time. The GFS has taken a more southern track in this run. WIll this hold? We'll know a whole lot more with Thursday's data. This is crunch time! The EURO keeps a very deep track and is very stingy with the moisture. I am very anxious to see the newest run... that's really all I can say until the new data comes out.

Saturday at 7am Satuday at 1pm Saturday at 7pm

The NAM keeps a good amount of moisture in our area for the first part of this system. Plenty of cold air associated with the system!
Here's the general area of the storm's path! I don't see it changing much from what you see below.

This is the travel zone for the low! I should be able to shrink it on Thursday!
I still think we'll be measuring snow by the time this system is finished... just how much is still a question!
Here are the individual model forecasts... NOT MINE!

I'll have more later!
