A HIGH Risk For Severe Weather

Just as I mentioned in some of my facebook comments and twitter talk... parts of Kentucky are under a HIGH Risk for severe weather.

Only a few of our counties are in the HIGH Risk... but trust me... that means nothing with the way the atmosphere is setting up for later today! Today has all kinds of severe weather potential for all of eastern Kentucky. So ignore the borders on the HIGH Risk and Moderate... some bad stuff is coming down the pike for all of us today!

General severe weather threat

From top to bottom you see the Tornado, high wind, and hail threat!

This looks like a very dangerous sitiuation for many across the commonwealth. If you have evening plans to get out and about... I encourage you to change them and stay home! Here are some tips that will help keep you safe!

  • If you have a basement... that's where you need to be when the weather gets rough!
  • If you don't have a basement... get to the lowest floor of your home. Once on the bottom floor go towards the middle of your home. Get in an interior hallway, bathroom, or closet.
  • Stay away from windows.
  • Abandon mobile homes
  • Avoid travel this afternoon and evening if at all possible!

It will be hard to update posts here as warnings and critical info comes into the station. Follow me on twitter and facebook for quick update information.

Stay safe today!
