Federal investigation leads U.S. Marshals to Lexington Home
Updated: 12:56 PM - We're tracking a developing story in a Lexington neighborhood where U.S. Marshals are conducting an investigation at a home.
I know if I am seeing and hearing all the talk about this system from facebook and twitter I know that you have to be seeing the same things. I read one post that said, "Eastern Kentucky WILL see 24" of snow with this system!" When I see such things I cringe!!!!! No one in their right mind would pust a stamp of approval on a forecast this significant with so much incertainty out there.
In the winter we see big storms and you will see a snowfall forecast come out a few days in advance. Usually, I have a pretty good feeling. This is a completely different situation.
Now... with all that being said... where do we stand? I think we have a real solid chance of getting in on some snow. I dare not say how much at this point! If some of the projections continue to stay on track... we could see some accumulation.
Now let's look at a few different images of Sandy. These are all for around 7am on Tuesday.
GFS CANADIAN

EURO

These look different... but they are coming together. Everything is very similar...as far as Sandy's location is concerned on Tuesday morning. The GFS is trying to wrap more cold air around the low. It actually spreads the cold air back into the Atlantic. The Canadian is pretty agressive with the cold punch too. It has it running all the way into southern Georgia. As much as these images look similar... they are pretty far apart on some things!
The NHC Forecast

If you aren't wanting snow... I I expect many of you don't... then you better pray for a more northern landfall. If Sandy gets with the trough at a more souther point it looks like that will make things interesting around here.
The real folks that we should be worried about are the ones along the east coast. They face widespread heavy rains, storm surge, and strong winds. Those folks will get the tropical parts while we end up with the wintry side.
Final thought.
I'll have more this weekend!
