About to feel like Spring

Chief Meteorologist Shane Smith is finally tracking something that looks like almost typical Spring for Eastern Kentucky.

Good riddance to bad company... that's what I have to say about the winter weather we had yesterday.  There is finally no winter weather in the 7-Day Forecast, it's finally looking like we've got a true taste of Spring heading our way.

So lets talk about the forecast in a little more detail.  Tomorrow a strong area of high pressure moves into the Ohio Valley and is going to really dry us out and get the winds cranking.  Winds will fly from the southwest and gust upwards of 30 miles per hour.  This will also create an enhanced risk of wildfires, so keep an eye out on the local forests.  If you see a wildfire, please be sure to report it.

We see a shot of warm air and showers enter the region on Friday as a low pressure system cross across the mountains.  Here's a look at the GFS model showing temperatures and precipitation for Friday.

Another low pressure system will bring more rain on Saturday to the region.

The good news is that any frozen precipitation with that second low should stay well off to our north.  The better news, check out the temperatures by the middle of next week in Eastern Kentucky.

Hello 70s... I've missed you!  Hopefully this is just the start of a warmer stretch of weather for us winter weary souls.
